Tala
Wolfdog
Tala is a beautiful wolfdog who came to Shy Wolf Sanctuary as an owner surrender after spending her entire life with the same family. Raised from puppyhood, Tala was deeply loved, but her unique needs became increasingly difficult to manage.
For most of her life, Tala enjoyed having access to a yard and preferred spending her time outdoors. However, when her owners were forced to sell their home and move into an RV, Tala struggled tremendously with the transition. The confined living space caused severe anxiety, and she desperately wanted to be outside. As her condition worsened, her family knew they needed to find a solution that would allow her to thrive.
Tala experiences what appears to be fear paralysis, a condition that causes her back legs to go limp when she becomes frightened, anxious, or feels confined. Her previous owners sought help from numerous veterinarians, and many believed euthanasia was the only option due to the severity of her condition.
Thankfully, Tala's story took a different turn. Through a family connection discovered on Embark DNA testing with one of Tala's relatives, her owners learned about Shy Wolf Sanctuary and reached out for help.
Since arriving at the sanctuary, Tala has flourished. With plenty of room to roam, a peaceful environment, and the freedom to simply be a wolfdog, she has shown remarkable improvement. Her episodes have become far less frequent, and she spends her days exploring, relaxing, and enjoying the space she always deserved.
